I thought about vet school but ended up with a BS in Biology. So now I teach Chemistry and Physics. I guess I'm still surrounded by crazy animals, right Patty?

I also wanted to be a vet but also had a unplanned pregnancy at 16. I'm now a grandmother of 3 boys. I did take a correspondance course for a vet tech and did get a diploma, I also got my GED and an associates in accounting. I spent most of my working years in factory work and assistant manager of pizza restaurants till I was unable to work anymore. So none of my accomplishments where put to use. Well, I did work 3 seasons as a tax preparer with Jackson Hewitt and 8 years preparing taxes on my own. Although the degree didn't help really except to be able to say I have it. I've always had a love for animals and apparently they have a love for me.
Thats my story.

I wanted to be a horse vet. Decided I didn't need no stinkin' college. Got several jobs, got married, got more jobs, got kid, got more jobs, got sick of jobs, went back to school, dad died, got divorce, stayed in school, worked full time job for a J E R K, raised kid mostly by myself, got through school, teach kids, work for JERKS.

I love teaching, though. It's the money and respect that I miss.

My mother was a single mother most of my childhood, my father passed away before I was two. Several jerks threw my childhood so I had been to 11 different schools before 10th grade. I hated school!! Went to live with my grandmother in MI in 10th grade (I look back now and it was the best thing that ever happen to me) But by time I graduated I wanted nothing more to do with "school" (now I look back and wish I would have). Engaged my senior year of high school married and bought my first house a year later. Divorced 5 years later moved back to FL, fell into an awesome corrugated job was there for almost 10 years. Daughter of owner came to work at job we just never got along, family comes first so I lost job. Moved to NC got new corrugated job, recession hit - lost my job. Now stay at home mom to two kids, wonderful husband and a farm full. Things may get tight from time to time but the best thing that ever could have happened and couldn't be happier.

I read all of James Herriot's books when I was very young. Thus, I NEVER wanted to be a vet!

Wanted to go to art school but didn't think I could afford it and there was no one in my life encouraging me or helping me figure it out. I've spent most of my working years as a dispatcher. Deputy's, trucks, plumbers, forest rangers. Still doing it but I make sure I'm in as many art shows as possible. Lately that hasn't been many. Stupid economy.

When I was 6 I found a bird with a broken wing in my backyard, helped the wing heal and let it go it returned every spring back to our house and hatched 3 chicks which I played with until they could fly, unfortunately the mom bird died and I never saw the chicks again.

When I was 9 1/2 my dog got in a fight with who knows what and had a huge gash on the side of his head, our family wasnt in a good spot in the econonomy and couldnt afford to take her to a vet, my mom used to breed great danes and has all of the things that you need to do stitches, I cleaned the wound and gave her stiches (without anistisia but the pain of having an infection would have been worse) and the wound healed perfectly, she is still alive today and is now 14 ( she is a labrador retriever and for the breed 13 is a miarcle) and going strong.

As soon as I turned 16 I got a job at IFA at the age of 17 3/4 I graduated high school.

I stayed out of school for my whole entire 18 year old year trying to think of something I wanted to be.

Once I turned 19 I came to my senses and wanted to be a veterinarian and someday open up my own clinic.

I am now in college to be a vetrinarian and am having the Best day every day, I cant wait until I graduate and get my license to practice so I can give discounts to all of the great BYC members and help all the dogs, cats, reptiles, and poultry people bring in.

That is my life story:D ( To be continued)

I think you'll be a fine vet. Stick with it! We need more vets who are in it for the love of animals and want to help people help their pets.
The three chicks, born on Christmas day, all look alike so I named them Carol. They are the Christmas Carols!
