Well YES, as a matter a fact I have gone crazy but in my head it looked do-able.

Well I have bators out my ears now. A friend brought another one this morning. Such a sweetie. When they hatch I put the tiny seramas and D'Uccles in a large box. So the other RIR, and barrs won't step all over them, I also have a large horse water trough thing my same friend let me borrow. as well as a bath tub and the entire bathroom floor. Did I mention I have saved newpapers for a year!
Then when they are old enough, I take them to the coop. I have a spot big enough for them to run around, poop and play till I feel like the can go out into the run with the other chickens of thier breed. Sometime I think I am running a daycare. A very expensive daycare. But these chickens have really helped me with being retired and missing my 120 soldiers I used to pay, feed, train and cloth.

Rooster.. you aren't alone.. I have 4 Brinsea incubators that hold 24 each..one hovabator that holds 48.. so I can incubate a total of 144 eggs at one time.. of course I have this one due to hatch this weekend.. the next on the 26th.. and so on..and so on. Brooders are two medium dog crates, an aquarium for the quail and freshly hatched.. another medium tote and a HUGE tote..(older ones go in there --their next step is outside once they feather out completely)

I am not retired.. but playing with chickens of all ages has helped me through this first year since the passing of my Mama.. plus is invaluable as a stress reliever.

Happy Hatching

Pauletta, I got the eggs already! All made it ok and I put them in the Bator with the turner off for today. PM me your PayPal.so I can send you the $ thanks, Deb ps, speaking of bators, I have two cabinets, that hold 96x3 eggs each, building another one, plus three styrofoam bators! I put most of the chicks in the insulated room full of brooders in the barn. No chicks in the house this year, yet...

Oh, I wish I could be hatching right now. Way too cold to receive eggs or even to get them from my chickens and still have them viable. I am having problems with the eggs freezing in the coops before I can collect them on the weekdays that I work. Its been frustrating. The coop is insulated but I didn't want to use a heat lamp in there.

Me too ladies... I have 180 eggs at all times in my sportsman with staggered hatches. When some come out, more go in!

Currently using my tabletop Brinsea for hatching, haven't broke out the big cabinet hatcher yet.

Don't worry about shipping. You are always so good to me! Now that Christmas has passed shipping is crazy fast these days. But if you ever want to build one of those bators and sell it let me know

OKay you hatching maniacs - my big question is do you keep all these birds? If not what happens to them? I have 6 or 7 cockerels that need to go, I'm sick of feeding them, but get no response on Craigslist.
