Luckily, I live in a neighborhood where you can have (and we do have) cars on blocks, emus, goats, peacocks, horses, guns, pigs, cows, etc. You can even use sidewalk chalk on the road and no one sends you a nasty gram. My neighbor has raised rats and cockatiels, now I've got him into quail. I don't talk to any neighbors except those directly on either side of me, and I like it that way. A few of my students live here and they yell "Hi Mrs. Anderson" as they pass by. I may not have a manicured lawn and a community pool, but it works for me.
Unrelated: I think I might have mentioned about a month ago that a Christian school teacher came to my house with her students as a field trip? Sent 2 1/2 dozen hatching eggs home with them, all free. The deal was that whatever chicks didn't find homes just give them to me. She got 20 locked down and 13 hatched. 65% is a pretty good rate for hand turning and 15 1st graders' noses and paws all over them eggs!!! I got them from her on Saturday and sold them all for $20 to a real nice lady on disability. They were mixed chicks, obviously from my ex giant rooster, Stan the Silver Penciled Rock. It was fun.
Pauletta, I hope they move away. I know you're in the right and happy for it, it is just a hassle to live near people like that.
AND PAULETTA:
so far I have a D'uccle and 3 blue polish, 1 of the RIR over PR hatched, and the FBCM is nearly zipped. A few more are pipping. We've got a good postal route between us, very good turnout so far. THE POLISH ARE SO DANG CUTE!! Mixed blue and white, one is nearly all white. I might have to keep all the polish!!!
