WHAT YA GOT SWAP Chat Thread

I have a quick question from those of you that have gotten soaps from me. Have any of you ever gotten any soap from me that didn't smell like the scent they were supposed to or not have a scent at all and you guys never said anything. I just had someone email me and say that there's didn't smell like the scent or had no scent at all.

But I made some for me out of the same batch and they have a scent to me and it is the scent it is supposed to be. Maybe I have a higher sense of smell.

But I don't want to over scent them and make them too powerful.

I am not sure what to do because she has already opened and used them and I have the same ones here that have a scent. What do you do in a case like this. I am just not sure.

I thought they were all wonderful. Mine have all had scents that in my opinion smelled like the scents on the labels.

I guess just make your best judgment on how to deal with the customer. No matter what you do in business, you will always have someone that is not happy for some reason. Some people are never happy and some people make a business out of complaining to get free products. If you believe the product had no problem tell her that and forget it. If you think she may have a legitimate point, then offer to reimburse her or send another product and maybe you will have a customer for life.

Here's a little story: My husband worked as a meat cutter in a Safeway store several years ago. The store policy was if a customer brought back a meat product with the label saying it was bad, the customer would be refunded the cost. There was one customer that brought back items every week for a refund. She would bring back the fat, bone, & the label and say the steak was awful and get a full refund. Sometimes, she would bring several items (always fat, bone, or little piece of the item) and say they were all bad. My husband had enough of it and put the bone & fat on the scale and refunded her the weight times the cost per pound.

She was mad and went to the manager and got her full refund and my husband got a butt chewing. The lady stopped coming to that store. My husband said it was worth the manager's chewing to not have to deal with her anymore. I am sure she moved on to shop at another store where is could continue getting her free meat without questions.

Anyway is she worth keeping as a customer or not?

Michelle, The soap I got from you is the best I have gotten. (No offense to anyone else I have gotten soaps from.) Yours does indeed smell like what I ordered. Yours makes our skin baby soft (my hubbie thanks you :p ). Your soap comes in cute shapes and sizes, so my kids will pick them up and use them (which most others do not do). Yours also seems to last a bit longer then the other soap I have gotten from other people. I have no complaints at all. I use it in the Kitchen and Bathroom, for hand washing. Also in my Bath for me :p My DH uses it for his hands to keep them from cracking from all the weather and box dust from his job.

If she used them even though they "had no scent" or was not what she wanted. I would question it too. My opinion is: Offer for her to return all the unused bars for a refund less shipping and handling (packing materials, etc), for the unused bars. Then offer her a discount on future purchases. I would also soon come up with a return policy for future customers.

Also, if she is a smoker, it will kill her sense of smell to a point. My kids tell me I have the nose of a bloodhound, yet I cannot smell JR's cigar/pipe smell on items in the house (and I am sure everyone else can).
just my 2 cents )

Thanks for the help guys. I am not sure what to do. I have never dealt with this before with the soaps nor this person. She is being kind of rude. Telling me they are like hotel soaps and have no smell or don't smell like the scents. She is complaining about the lavender and Plumeria. Which as I said I made me some of them out of the same batch. My batch made 6 bars of each and I only sent her 2 Lavender and 1 plumeria. Mine smell like the scents.

I asked her what she wanted me to do and it seems she is asking for a refund. I just can't see refunding for a used bar. But I wouldn't see why I couldn't take back the bars that are unused and unopened. But she pretty much said she won't be back. In this case it is probably for the better. I am trying to be nice about it but, it is getting difficult with what they have been saying. I don't want negative feedback for it either. I feel no matter what I do they probably won't be happy.

Thanks guys for your help and the nice comments you made.

Corancher: That is horrible that people actually would stoop that low to get free meat. If they needed help they should have gotten it instead of pretty much stealing it.

Maybe she's one of those women who you smell as soon as they walk into a room....and expect your soap to accomplish that!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this..

Anyone up for a side swap. My Swedish duck started laying again after she hatched her ducklings. She has 4 eggs today. Monday or Tuesday she will prob have 8. She is black under a blue drake. They hatch about 50/50.

Reese, if it were a long-standing customer, I'd have sent new product for the price of shipping. If it's a new customer, and already swearing that they won't be back, I'd say refund the price of the soap after she returns them to you, possibly offering to pay half of the shipping back to you (with the refund, so she doesn't get the money and run). Most retailers will give refunds, if the buyer sends the product back (used or not, then at least you can figure out what's going on), or will send coupons for so much off the next order. The refund is a little hard, because most people aren't going to want to pay shipping to send them back, because for three bars, they're probably going to spend more in shipping than what the bars are even worth (to and from them). Even if I have a genuine issue, I won't ship three bars of soap back for a refund of my purchase price... It isn't worth my time or money. Honestly, it's really not even worth the hassle to request a refund... I might contact the seller and let them know what's going on, so they know, but I'm not wasting my time/money on a refund. But, maybe if she's already used them, ask her to send a sliver of each bar back to you, so you can investigate the claim?

Hey everyone! Hope you are all well... Seems like forever since I've swapped, and now I have the itch! Plus, the new Brinsea incubator I got looks like it needs some company.

My Russian Orloffs are laying and the eggs are pure bred, so I will be able to start offering them, plus I have a couple new things to add to my swap page. Anybody like Stampin' Up stamps? I have 4 packs to offer.

Good to be back!
