As I was parading through the house proclaiming the arrival of white eggs in the house... DH reminded me that we needed to still collect the loose chicks running through our yard. (The Siapans)
Question: Anyone have any advise on how to get them without loosing an eyeball? Our Hens are crazy when you mess with a baby, no matter if it is theirs or not. The Roo "Major Pain" will also attack if you mess with the chicks or his girls. I am about to resort to collecting in the middle of the night. Advise from you guys would be much welcome!

is there any way you could herd them into a pen or closed area? i would suggest late aftternoon/night time.

Not really. They do not herd well. They act alot like Guinea's. I can throw feed in one of the pens that is empty and they look at me like I am crazy. I am thinking about going out with a puppy pen after dark, running it around the nest site.... then collecting babies while the moms will not get after us. The puppy pen hopefully will keep the babies from running off as they are getting pretty big.
DH says they cannot see in the dark, so I am thinking this might work.

This will prolly be our last year of having them. Or at least this many....lol

I just want to say that i've gotten all my swaps out except for crazypetlady's bbs eggs. They'll go out monday and i'm all caught up. I've also received all my swaps. Thanks ladies and guys.

I just found this place, where you all have been hiding from me I was wondering why there were no comments on the other thread, I thought that was to keep the threade moving, I figured that had to be comments, discussion or statements related o swapping. I just couldn't figure out how you all were snagging to be so quiet.

I'm a little slow on the uptake but I usually figure it out.

They can see at night, but they are a lot easier to get then, simply because they will be sleeping/roosting. Hope you were able to catch them!
