Aww Im so sorry for everyones troubles. Whats a fisher the only one I have heard of is a king fisher and thats a bird ?
A Fisher is a large member of the weasel family. Lives mostly in the northern states and in the forests. Here is a couple of pictures of one. When they bare their teeth, they are nasty looking.

I am so sorry to hear this. That is one mean looking little creature!! I hope you are able to catch it! Wish I had some eggs to send you

That is such a horrible feeling, I'm so sorry for your loss! We trapped three raccoons that would hide out under the chicken coop and come out at night. We don't do catch and release for predators like that! Especially when they get my chickens! My brother in law used sardines to lure them in and it really worked. Also, for the momma raccoon, our trap wasn't big enough and she was going in and stealing the meat without getting caught because her butt hung out the end, not allowing the door to close. She was big. I'm sure hoping you get the little bugger responsible!!
So do sardines work better than tuna? We haven't had anything even trying to get the tuna. I thought at least I'd catch one of the feral cats running around here. If I catch the culprit, there will not be a catch and release happening.

I'm glad that your brother in law was able to help you out and catch some of your chicken killers!

He swears by throwing a can of sardines in there each time he goes trapping. I've never tried tuna, so I can't give an answer on that one. I defrosted some out-of-date venison and threw that in there and I did trap a baby with it.

Just don't give up on trying to get them, cause they won't give up trying to get your girls! Once they figured out they could get a free meal (they started with only 4 smaller pullets) then they came back for more (3 other pullets that they killed inside a wire cage and ate pieces of, and 3 big hens). Make sure the girls are on lockdown at night until you catch the culprit. One other thing... this may sound gross, but what parts of the birds are they eating? According to my B-I-L, coons are known to eat the guts and leave the rest of the bird there while other animals will eat other parts. That might help you figure out what is doing this. Hope this all helps!

aww they are so cute.
Im sorry you guys probly dont feel this way but I love all animals I hate what they can do to each other or other animals but I do love animals . I wish our worlds didnt colide with them so badly though.

I heard somebody on here took a raw chicken leg and tied it to the grate inside the trap. No grabbing the bait and getting away! Maybe something like that would get the coon to get its back end into the trap. You'd have to wire it on really good with good heavy wire and pliers. They're really strong.

1 dead hen = 1 dead pred.

Black American Orps............

I have people asking to prepay for these chicks!

Who has hatching eggs? Anyone closer to me? Or not, I guess, even. Who knew they were popular here?? Don't need to be show quality either.

I think CPL has BBS Orps. I dont have Orps, but i have Jersey Gaints, a black trio plus a splash hen, so chicks will mostly be black, with a few blue chicks.
