IDK, I had a hen that would pinch and twist when she was broody, she drew blood once, usually just a little bruise.

I have some broody hens that do that to me too. I also have my calls that like to bite and not let go.

I guess I am just immune to the pain from my chickens anymore. Lol.... I get pecked all the time. My cuckoo Sg roo is vicious I have to watch wearing shorts when I go into his stall he makes me bleed all the time the rotten little brat.

So she put a bandana in there, let them jump on it and then she put them in the brooder. I think I peed my pants laughing.

I wish my granddaughter would have been home. She catches roosters for me and she is 7.

I finally found a black Bantam Amer. roo I have been looking everywhere for. Meet Fred. Fred had his old family buffaloed they were using gloves to pick him up

Judges4 - I forgot to mention that I adored the artwork on the box. Reminded me of the pictures my children used to draw for me ( some on the wall

with Sharpie ). I do miss those days!

I had picked up a bunch of boxes to keep at home and they never made it into the house. One day there was a terrible lack of stuff to keep kids busy, so I whipped out the boxes and crayons, and, voila! Your masterpiece

Rachael's roo story reminds me of Saturday when Michelle & I went to get Rachael's Sebbie & my Runners. I talked the girl's mom into selling me 1 of her BLRW pullets as well & they were half afraid to touch it. My (almost) 9 year old daughter climbed into their little 2 ft tall "coop & run" pen & caught my pullet by the tail til she could get her grip shifted to the feet. They acted like they were afraid to touch the chickens!!!! They were totally ama2ed that my daughter (& my 5 year old son) were so willing to pick up the chickens & weren't afraid of them at all. I told them "Of course not, they chase the chickens for me all the time. They are my chicken wranglers."

As for getting bit...mine usually go for the toes. My kids & I have a tendency to go in the runs barefoot or in sandals & if we don't throw some food out 1st to keep the clucks occupied they let us know we "forgot" them...lol

I did have a couple very ticked off birds peck me while I was trying to put Ivermectin on everyone yesterday. Most were little black cochin banties but there was also 1 little black mixed banty who latched on & wouldn't let go til I pried her beak loose from my hand. Didn't break the skin, but left a nice mark for a few minutes. Couldn't really blame them. My daughter's little boyfriend & I had just chased them all down & stuffed them in the coop & a spare breeding pen & I was pulling them out 1 at a time to "torture" them with drops on their neck & under each wing. Think I probably woulda fought back too if I had been them.

OH MY GOODNESS I am in awe of the last 2 packages. Yoda thank you SO VERY much for your very generous gift. I am sending the dog toys to the Ahimsa Rescue Foundation today and they will be amazed and over joyed at you generousity. And I love, love love the peacock feathers. Even my husband said, "They really tie into the new guest room perfectly."
And you can never have to many bags. Okay I am going start sewing again.

Today I got my parts in for my sewing machine so if I can nag the DH to install them I will be busy for a long time.

Judges4 Thank you thank you thank for all the magazines. You are so super sweet! Now I need to go shopping and pick a quilt project. WhooHoo now I need to start swapping for more material.
