Lav silkies, I missed lav silkies!!! DRAT. I have a lav silkie curse. I gave. MY 1st one hatched to a little 4-h girl and have been trying to get another one ever since. I bought 2 and had them shipped one turned out to be white. I had one I hatched drown in the goose pool. Many sets of eggs tried. The one I had get's botchalism!! Botchalism? I mean give me a break!!

I did nurse that one back to health.

I have 2 sets of eggs in the bator that were looking great then last's nights candling knocked most of them out!!

What's a gal got to do to get a lav silkie?

Ok, I thought botulism was fatal and permanently so. How do you cure it?

It usually is without the anti-toxin unless you can push fluids for the 1st 48 hours which I did every 2 hours 9cc of water mixed with electrolytes, vitamins and sugar. I was shocked it lived. It's back legs were totally paralyzed. Now it's running around my main chicken yard having big chicken fun. It's about 4 months old now and was about 2.5 months when it got sick.

I opened up an old pen and dumped an old feeder full of junky water, some of it ran in the corner of the pen and of course that's where the little silkie decided to sit when I put it in the pen. I looked it up on the internet and I guess it's not that uncommon especially if you keep ducks or water fowl.

I thought it was a goner it was in a basket on my kitchen table just laying there looking pitiful and on day 3 it started eating and drinking, though still paralyzed. on day5 it jumped up and started peeping at me. I put it in the brooder with the babies and it took another 10 days before it was walking well. It would lean against the side of the brooder to balance it's self.

ok, so that much is for a bantam chick? Probably double that for a large fowl chick or triple or even 4 times for a large fowl adult?

I apologize for the lack of response on the bags! I need the poly weave type, they don't have to be pretty, they can be white, baby poop green, whatever, lol, so long as they're in good condition and can be refilled with grain. The larger the better, like I said, hopefully 100lbs, but 50lbs is ok. I'm thinking that I probably shouldn't go with dog/cat food bags simply because of the fats they spray on the feed that could spoil the grains? Anyways, if anyone has that, please PM me with how many and how many bars of soap you'd expect in trade. I have four ounce bars of goat milk soaps in several scents (I can provide a full list and pics to work out a trade deal). Oh, one last thing (wow, do I sound needy?!) I'd prefer that we could ship the trade items quickly, because I have organic oats at a dirt cheap price that I can pick up as soon as I get bags, but they don't have a lot left, so I'd like to get them ASAP, lol.

I have a few 100# poly weave bags from our feed mill layer mash. I think I have 5 or 6 right now. If you are interested pm me. I can send them out tomorrow
