what you get when you cross a rir and rsl??

Really there's not any pure one's anymore, not from the ones way back when, and if any were to have surived,You wouldnt want them, Because they would be inbreed big time, they would be small as banty's get sick easy, if they did lay at all it woulnt be much and the hatch ratio would be somthing like one in a hundred. you have to put new linage in .In order to keep stock healthy and productive. and since chickens purity is based on color size and conf. its not that hard. Take Boar goats for instance only a few could be had, so they were inbreed back with each other and you couldnt keep them right side up after a while, and since other goats coudnt be matched with them ,they started Reg. them as 100%,pure, 75%pure, 50%pure and so on. you breed a 100% with a 75% and have a 85% then beed 100% with 85% and have 95% and so on until your back at 100%. This is done on all livestock.

we dont do this with horses....and thats what I've been raising all my life...I think this is why I have such a hard time "getting" all of this....So that is pretty much what people do to me then? My rirs arent pure....so I can keep my rir/sexlink chicks that come out "pure" rirs and "pure" sexlinks" and then keep them as breeding stock in the future as "pure" because i know that the only way to make a sexlink is to breed (for example): rir or nh roo and a silver hen such as a dellie or slw.....so i can still get "pure" sexlinks (i know sexlinks arent pure anyways but i think u get my point) by breeding my rir roo to them and keeping the "correct" ones.....wheeew my head hurts...i think ive got it but im making it more complicated....im good at that

I think you got sexlink backwards. Mom needs to be the RIR, and the roo needs to be the silver gene... But I could be wrong too. LOL

Roo was a cochin x blue laced red wyandotte x RIR. LOL

Good laying MUTT chicken, get you some white rock hens, then you could raise your own golden comets(sexlink)

Black sex links are RIR rooster X Barred rock hen
brown sex link is RIR rooster X white rock hen
gold sex link is a RIR rooster X a RIWhite hen
red sex link is a RIR rooster X a Delaware hen
production reds (cherry eggers) is a RIR X NHR
I just wanted to show you the combos for the sex links. I have all of them

The only ones that are breeding age are the Delaware and the white rocks.

And I have hatched out 7 babies. 4 pullets and 3 roos.

To answer your question, you will have chickens that look like RIR and lay really well!
