What you think of this for a duck house? I WANT YOUR OPINION

Didn't think about rotting issues. That is why I come to the experts

My hubby will be thrilled to know that he will get to use his power tools!!! Anyone on a color scheme or how to make it pretty? I want my ducks to be the envy of all other

Shoot yeah and get me a couple of them too. That will be perfect for 2 Pekin. You can easily modify it with a door that locks, ventilation and a door for you to open and clean. You could not build that set up for $30 no way.

I will post a pic of my ramp if you want...hubby did a little lip up each side so they can feel when they're close to the edge (not that it has stopped the runners from going off LOL) and little slats. I don't know if they need the slats to walk but I can tell you that as I'm putting out little mounds of peas to teach them to walk up the ramp, I'm so very grateful that they are not all rolling to the bottom

Storey's guide (I think, I got 2 or 3 books on ducks) said to make any house at least a foot off the ground to prevent rodents from living under it.

What color is your house? You could paint it to match that...or do you have any other structures? Part of why we got the one we did was because it kind of matched my kids' swing set and play house and it's back in that part of the yard.

I'm going to add some planters to the sides of mine and grow some greens for them to eat. Your hubby can give those tools a good workout making a couple of planters too

Have fun, I think it looks like a great deal!

Did you say your hubby wants to use his power tools.

Mine would probably cut the top right off and put hinges on it so I could just lift the top up to clean it out or gather eggs. Loves to use those power tools. Loves to come up with ideas to have to go buy more power tools.

Actually had a dog house like that with a lift up roof. Worked great.
