I've said enough about myself lets hear about other people.
You can speak you mind just try to be nice. I'll also tag a few people.

1.) why do I have chickens.
Lots of reasons, to breed, show, as companions,
Eggs, entertainment... the list goes on

2.) are they pets.
Our chickens are absolutely pets..pets with a purpose. But if they don’t fulfill that purpose then that’s ok. No pressure lol.

3.)do you have meatbirds
We had them in the fall. They taste good. Not a huge fan of the birds themselves

4.) do they free range
Only when we fail to keep them in front of the coop lol, we try to keep them close

5,) I have Belgian d’Uccles of varying varieties, Bantam New Hampshire reds, and a bantam Wyandotte

6.) Do I want more
Yes yes YES. We are currently ISO high quality d’Uccle and New Hampshire breeders to get some new blood into our lines. And one can never have too many chickens.

7.)how many do I have
honestly I’m not quite sure..?

8.)do people thing I’m crazy?
yes. For many reasons but mostly for my mother and I’s love of chickens. You get a funny look when you tell people you wash chickens in your kitchen sink and then take them to shows...

What is my favorite breed - EE. All my chickens are friendly, but Torchic is very snuggly and RiverSong would be a house chicken if we would let her.

Why do I have chickens?
Eggs and as pets

Are they pets?
Yes

Do I have meat birds?
We may eat extra roos someday, but no desire to raise specific meat breeds.

Do they free-range?
Most of the day when we are home. We let them out of the run 2 hours after sunrise and bring them back to the run 1 hour before sunset to avoid the neighboring owls.

What breeds do I have?
2 EE -Torchic and RiverSong
3 Olive eggers- Pidgey, Hazel and Clover
2 Dominique- Holly and Onyx
1 Sapphire Splash- Opal

Do I want any more?
Already have more ordered - 3 Ameraucana (1 will be a roo), 1 Silver Dorking, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Silver Leghorn

How many chickens do I have?
8 currently, soon to be 14 with an eventual goal of 20 (chicken math🤣)

Do people think I'm crazy/Out of my mind?
Probably, but not just for chickens😁

Why do I have chickens?
I started raising chickens and ducks back in 2017, after moving to my 21 acre farm. I decided that with the land, it made sense I bring a few new animals along. So I did research and fell in love, not only with chickens, but also with ducks! I had a coop custom made and ordered 4 Speckled Sussex chickens, and 2 Pekin Ducks off of Cackle Hatchery. Weeks later, I found myself with 6 fluffy babies cheeping at me from behind the post office counter.

Are they pets?
I consider my birds to be pets. I spend so much time with them, and give them all names. I make sure that their run is secure and that they are all healthy. My birds are no different from house pets, and I enjoy them more that I thought I would.

Do I have meat birds
I do not raise my birds for meat. I happen to get too attached! I do still eat chicken but not my own.

Do they free-range?
Predators here are horrible. If I freersnged I wouldn’t have any left. Hawks are everywhere. Coyotes bobcats raccoons opossums and the rest are always looking to get my girls. I have a super secure run, and daily free range time is monitored and limited.

What breeds do I have?
I love my chickens. I have only kept a few breeds, like Speckled Sussex, Barred Rock, Orpington, Wyandotte, and Easter Egger.

Do I want any more?
Certainly! Right now I don’t have room for more chickens, but I’m getting more ducks very soon.

How many chickens do I have?
Currently, I have 7.

Do people think I'm crazy/Out of my mind?
Why wouldn’t they! I’m always talking about chickens and my phone is filled with pictures of them.

Do I have meat birds

Do they free-range?

What breeds do I have?

Do I want any more?

How many chickens do I have?

Why do I have chickens?

Eggs, Meat, Gardening, Sustainability, Chicken TV

Are they pets?

No, they are livestock. I'm fond of them and didn't make my breed choices entirely based on practicality, but they have to contribute.

Do I have meat birds?

Not yet. I have eaten "Packing peanuts" and retirees but not yet raised a batch of broilers. I intend to have them this year.

Do they free-range?

No. They have a pen (to be a set of pens that I'll rotate them through). Chickens are good for preparing a garden area, but they're not good in the garden eating my vegetables.

What breeds do I have?

I currently have 2 Blue Australorps, 1 Light Brahma, 1 Silver-laced Wyandotte, and 1 California White. I'm terribly impressed with my Blue Australorps.

Do I want any more?

Yes, I intend to bring the flock up to 15-20, including some additional breeds, especially Delawares. I'm buying more chicks than I need and will sell started and/or POL pullets to get down to the right numbers. I'm also going to add at least one rooster.

How many chickens do I have?

5 currently. I intend to expand to about 15-20, with 1/3 of the hens cycled out every 3 years to keep the laying going well.

Do people think I'm crazy/Out of my mind?

No. Most people I know are, at least, sympathetic to the idea of backyard chickens and, at least, light homesteading.
