Whatcha Making for Supper?

Freeze dried... 🤔 I'm going to have to try that!!! DH can make great skillet hash browns from scratch, but I've never been very successful with it. Do you rehydrate them first? Were they cooked before you freeze dried them, or just shredded?

Idahoan makes small packets of freeze fried hash browns. Just like mashed potatoes. That's what I had on hand because I like buying stuff to try with camping type/easy meals. I had never even used them before. I just followed the directions for rehydrating them with water and it was the perfect amount because there wasn't anything to drain off.
I don't know if they were precooked or not.

I have a freeze dryer for long term storage foods. It's what I do with all my leftovers. I think I will shred some potatoes and try this. Can't imagine why it would be better than just shredding and frying, but why not give it a go?
