Whatcha Making for Supper?

We actually do have access to fresh fish here in Washington. I realize we are lucky. It is so much better. I'm not as fond of the rock fish as @pennyJo1960 is, but we can often get fresh cod and always fresh salmon. In fact, we occasionally get fresh salmon from our neighbors who fish on this river right here. Penny Jo probably gets that too. She is on the same river, upstream from us.

Jealous.

There's a place where I used to hunt here in PA. Pithole. Birth of the oil industry. And when you tour the foundations of this ghost town and read the signs, it blows my mind that in 1965 Pithole had fresh fish being brought in for this thriving oil town, but we can't get fresh today. Not unless you overnight it yourself. Which I've done in the past when I wanted to do a crayfish boil.

I live right on Lake Erie and there isn't a dedicated fish monger left.
Sad.

All the fish meals sounds great. I'm severely allergic to shellfish so I tend to stay away from fish. Afraid of cross-contamination during processing...
Tonight's menu will be Sirloin Steak, fresh Potato Planks, and Sweet Peas.

My father became allergic to shellfish in his sixties. He had eaten all his life, too. Or at least all of my life.
He wound up in the hospital because fries had been cooked in the same deep fryer as shrimp had. Nothing to be trifled with for sure.

That is amazing!!! Someone needs to take up the trade. They would make a killing.

I grew up in Rhode Island. Loved Little Neck Clams (Steamers) Clam Cakes, Lobster, Flounder, Clam Chowder, really anything that came from the sea. I started to get sick due to shellfish after our 4th child was born. When I was around 30, like your father, I was hospitalized after eating Beef Fried Rice. Apparently the cook used the same cutting board for Shrimp.
