mom,wewantchicks! :

they will live fine in sun, just do alot better in shade! these ones have full sun in the morning and afternoon shade.

haha, even afternoon shade is scarce here. The way our house and sheds are situated to not allow for a lot of shade :| if I plant them in full sun, what do I have to do to keep them alive? Our summer heat is brutal.....

Hostas here in Iowa are planted around the base of trees all the time. They allow for the person mowing to go farther around the tree so that they dont have to weed whip as much. I dont do hostas since once in a while we let our horse out to graze and they will eat them...lol Jenn

here are the hostas, they are on there third second summer. you can dig them up and split them into as many parts as you want and replant! they are very hardy and love shade. these plants actually came from the first house we lived in as a child, my mom moved them, then i moved some to our old house, then i went and moved more so i know how hardy they can be!
