My boys are waiting for their chicks to arrive... The youngest is celebrating his b-day, my mom just went into the hospital and will be home Wednesday (I hope).

I'm running around to make sure I can finish the fence late tonite and tommorrow.... She may sleep with me in my room for a few nites... But hey...

To Chicken Police---I already have 2 hens whose heritage is unkown but they give me big beautiful brown eggs every mornings....I am trying to venture into some purebreds which is why I have some Barred Rock, Australorp & RIR chicks...also patiently waiting for a breeder in PA who has promised me some true Ameraucana chicks! So I'm partial to good sized colored eggs...that is why I'm not keen on keeping this white egg layer...they are also smaller than my other hens eggs, so strike #2!

I understand not wanting a white egglayer or crossbred birds. Its a simple preference. You didn't have what you thought you had. You wanted a Welsummer but you got the exact opposite in egg color. She is a beautiful hen and I'm sure someone will give her a great home.

I usually don't get out of work till 5, I drive a school bus for Pine Bush School District. I'll give you a call tomorrow in the a.m. after 9. Mondays are usually a bit earlier than 5, so I can run out to chester or port.

No prob...but if you think you want to take her tomorrow...try & let me know so I can bring her w/ me...I leave for the office around 9-10am---leave bet 5-6pm.

SPECKLEDHEN--Thanks for "getting it" and I LOVE your blue Orps...just beautiful...wish you were closer...definetly need some Orps in my flock but much of what I'm seeing by me is nowhere near the quality you seem to have...so maybe next year I will start trying to hatch eggs so I can broaden my "henrizons!"

Would Wednesday be better? Then I'll know the fencing is secure. I have the area started but wasn't quite rushing as the babies aren't here yet.... Then I can get the fence doubly tight and right for the top lady... I get out of work about 5:15 on Wednesdays, lots of after school kids.

I'm just glad she's going to a decent home. It sucks not to be wanted, but you have your reasons for not wanting to keep her! Bravo for finding her a place to go instead of killing her or being mean to her.

Wed is fine, again just confirm w/ me tues night or Wed morn so I don't leave home w/o her!


PS- I hate white eggs-I hate white rice, cars, cats, dogs, noise, underwear, walls...
