I only got 2 b/c my husband was there!! haha! i also wanted to leave w/ a Partridge Plymoth Rock, b/c we dont have any "red" chicks, and they were SOOO cute. But DH said NO!!! haha!
I am in MO, so the feed store here gets most of there chicks from Cackle Hatchery (it is only 2hrs away....) They get a few things from Ideal, but prefer to do Cackle since the transport time is basically nil.... The chicks we got from there so far have been really healthy and lively. No issues.
I think these are Silver Marans? Not 100% sure. They were sexed as Pullets, so hopefully they both are. Hopefully my Cackle Marans will lay nice eggs....keeping my fingers crossed!
I swear, when the chicken talk started, it was only supposed to be 6 chickens...now we are up to 12!!!! We expected to lose a few chicks early on, but so far havent! So lucky for us i guess? haha. I know we will lose some to being Roosters since 5 of our 12 were bought straight run. We might keep 1 roo, but that is it. We havent built our coop yet (that is next weekend) and we have had to upsize our model TWICE b/c we keep getting more chicks! haha! And my DH has accepted that there is a good chance we will get more next year, so he is making it big enough to let our flock grow! Good man, good man!
