They are a bantam duck.

KATY , YOUR CALL DUCKS ARE BEAUTIFUL! I hope mine Hatch. I hear they are harder to hatch then other breeds. If they do not Hatch I will check with the Local 4H and see if I can purchase some. they are hard to find in this area so I ordered eggs.
Dee, They are a very small duck weighing only 1 - 1 1/2 pounds.

I think that call ducks were originally bred to have a inexpensive lure to "call" wild ducks.

I think they are called Call Ducks because hunters used them to call wild ducks to them? Something like that..... I'm sure someone more well versed will respond

Yes, at one time hunters used them to call in wild ducks but it is illegal to do that now.
