I have been getting too many eggs and am looking to reduce the flock a little bit. I have a variety of hens, wyandottes, orpingtons etc, all hatchery stock that are going to be a year old in June. I was planning on taking them to the local buy-sell-trade this Sunday but an unsure what to charge per bird. I was thinking $8 a piece but was not sure if that was too much or not. Anyway let me know what you think, and thanks in advance.

Around here they'd go for about $15 a bird. $20 at point of lay. I would check on craigslist and see what people in your area are selling them for (remember that some people way under price). I would say you should go for at least $10 per bird.

Thanks, I didn't think they would be worth that much. I do not really see started pullets for sale around here, mostly 2 year old+ birds that are past laying age and they are usually free so I had no idea where to start. I was actually thinking of selling them for $5. I was getting rid of 2 partridge rocks, 2 golden laced wyandotte, 2 silver laced wyandotte, 2 white orpingtons, 1 buff orpington, 2 silver penciled wyandottes and 3 turkens. I think that is all, just wanted to mention that because I am not sure if they would fetch a higher price or not.

I have four pullets that just started laying and I"m selling them for 30.00 but only because he is a BYCer

Otherwise I was going to sell them for 40.00 to anyone else. I'm just glad they are going to a good home

I would sell them for $15.00 in NH they sell for $15.00 to $20.00 at the swaps , be honest and tell people they are a year old that you have an over abundance of hens it doesnt hurt to include a fresh egg with the deal (since you have extra ) so the people can visualize the chicken and the egg:)
