Whats a good wormer

I was told of a wormer that you put in water and other animals can drink it too. What do you use? I need to decide soon!!

You will get a lot of opinions and a whole list of different wormers that folks use. After my experience last year I strongly believe the best first step to take is to take a of fecal samples to your vet to be tested. I had just wormed my birds with Wazine, the only one that is approved for chickens. Suddenly I'm seeing very abnormal droppings. I took a couple of samples in to find out that my birds had capillaria and that Wazine couldn't touch that.

I've since begun to follow a program that Wes uses, Wazine once a year and Eprinex once a year, or more often if I see over load signs.

Thanks, I was sure that I would get alot of advice on different wormers. I was told about a wormer from the feed store but I wanted to know what is working for others. Thank you for your info. I am writing it all down. I think I will take a sample to vet. Thanks

I've learned geography plays a part in what parasites are the most problematic. Not all wormers work for every one that our birds can pick up, that's why the fecal float can be very beneficial. And you will get warnings from others that nothing but the Wazine (piperzine) is approved for poultry. That's true. Thing is all of the drug restrictions in place are for commercial producers, not backyarders who's birds are not going into the general food chain. I've talked to our State Vet and he confirmed that off label use for backyard flocks is fine with our state, its the commercial guys that would be in a world of hurt if caught.
