just wondering whats a popular type of guinea fowl.

The popular "type" is the Helmeted Guinea Fowl, the popular color... is whatever suits you/your preference. (I love all colors). Pearl Grey is the most common and the darker colors like Pearl Grey and Royal Purple seem to be less prone to predator attacks (less visible).
