it depends on age and quality, if it fits silkie standard and somes times location. ya can always put them on eggbid too for auction which is most likely where you'd get the best price for them.
shoot me some pics and i'll give ya an idea of what they are worth it's hard to give a value on something if ya can't see it or don't know quality or if they have defects such as wrong color, missing toes ect. here only pet quality roos go from 5-15. if i sold my exhibition roos i could get $100 or more if i wanted big difference in pet or hatchery quality compaired to show or exhibition bloodlines.
yes u can eat a silkie just less meat on them since a banty and all dark meat from my understanding. i've always heard it tastes just like dark meat on a regular chicken or like phesant meat. i don't eat mine. if i have ones i can't use in my breeding programs or i don't want i sell them by quality and age or i trade them sometimes for friends and family to get things i can use or want. last time i had some pet and breeder quality ones that where youngsters, i traded them for osb and fencing to help build more coops, lol. before that i traded for other birds and 2 bundles of shingles.
if ya got an idea of the value of them it makes it alot easier and u pay the feed bill and bored so i'd not want to just give them away either. if someone doesn't like ur price hold out for awhile something better will come along. silkies always find homes usually and are alot easier to get rid of roos than most other breeds. one is cause it is a bantam size, their crow isn't as load and most breeds, they are nicer and not usually mean. i'm sure i could think of others but those are ones people off hand tell me most why they want them.
hope that helps,
silkie
