What's another $110, anyway?

I swear this SHOULD be last lumber trip for this damn coop. Just finishing trimming her out today, putting my metal on top of underlayment, and hopefully getting my self locking door constructed.

Well... not that much!
If you're going to do something like get into keeping chickens then you're going to have to spend money to build them a properly secure coop and run or you won't have them for long and will be on here posting about how heartbroken you are that something broke in and killed them all.

So is a mere $110 in lumber worth it? Yes. Yes it is.
If you're going to do something, do it right or don't do it at all. :D

That was my point. ;-)

Doors / trim going slower than expected, but what else is new?

Good news is I got inside this thing, and its so cool... As in temps. Pretty warm here today with a decent breeze, and there was just barely air flow and it felt like you're in some Cabana with a margarita. By flow mean fresh air coming from somewhere and you don't even notice it.

also very low humidity right now, so I shouldn't brag too much...

Looks really great!! Awesome details.

When I see builds like this I keep telling myself...my build isn't pretty but the wood is free! Even though, in reality, if I purchased all the wood it wouldn't look any better :D :D

...And I cringe purchasing 50 bucks in hinges! :D :D :D

Like I said... It's gotten a little out of control. ;-)

I'm enjoying it, though. Still going slow. Need some help! Solo job, still.

Looks great , nice work . I built my coop/run last summer , by myself also . Seemed like I was at Home Depot or Lowes every other day until I finished . All the little things added up fast but I was happy with my outcome as I'm sure you will be with yours .

That is one beautiful coop!! Can't wait to see how it turns out when complete!

:caf

But I do have questions. Are the 4x4 posts set in the ground w/ cement? Wondering how it will do in hurricane force winds or with flooding.

How do you plan on keeping it cool when the weather becomes much hotter and more humid? I'm used to seeing more open air type coops in your climate, so was surprised to see one that has such solid walls... Just questions that you probably already have answers to.
