Any thoughts on this baby? Theoretically she is a bantum (but TSC doesn't have a great record with keeping the bantums and LF straight it seems). I can't find any pictures that look anything like her.
Her feathers are coming in grey blue with white tips. Her legs are yellow and black and her beak is yellow with black smudges.

Oooooo... that would be totally cool! I think the TSC guy said they came from Privett Hatchery and they aren't showing anything but buff orps as being available. Dunno.
Guess I'll wait and see. She sure is feathering out pretty though! I hope she's a SHE. I will be really sad if she turns into a boy.

How're the buff and mutt babies doing?

They're good. They're getting big, too. I just added a dozen new babies to the brooder on Saturday with the 2 week olds.

I had to trash all the SPR eggs and half the Buff Orp eggs from Superior Farms

, so I guess the new kids are my compensation for the loss. lol

Yay! I have always wanted a blue chicken! I think she's so pretty. I just wish I knew what she was.

CC- do you want me to collect some more buff and buff wannabe eggs for you? I would be happy to get you a dozen for fun. As long as you don't mind my occasional misses on whose egg is whose...

I've been adding extra protein (kitten food, tuna, hot dogs, etc) so maybe this lot would have a better hatch rate. Dunno.

HA! If only we knew what she was we all could hatch some out!

Seriously, if there had been more than one of her in the TSC bin, I would have come home with 19,000 of them. She's so pretty!

You would think it would be easier to figure out which breeds have so much black on their legs.
edited to add: Did she look like this before her feathers grew in? This is a Blue Orp chick.

Or maybe like this one, a Lavender Orp?

I'm not sure how much longer I want to the bator and the brooders going. Maybe when I figure out when I'll be getting some SPRs from McMurray we can schedule a hatch accordingly. The current crew should be making their appearance on the 2nd, hopefully I'll get more than 2 out of the home grown half dozen and 6 of the BOs. Want some Dels? :) I've got one that appears to be rumpless, which must be a dual recessive trait cuz none of the adults are rumpless. Ya think anyone would want to try to create a rumpless EE variety that has the Delaware color?

Yeah, she looked a lot like that first picture only bluer. Kinda.

Maybe she's a blue orp. That would be cool! Now let's keep fingers crossed that she's a girl.

I'm pretty sure I'm full up at the moment (especially since I really didn't plan on having 14 babies on my dining room table!)

At some point this spring/summer I plan on hatching out some BBS ameraucanas. Until then I'm holding firm on the current set of babies.

The rumpless delaware is weird! I didn't know there was such a thing. Is she cool looking or just odd? If I had an ameraucana I'd say let's cross them and see what happens. Oh well.

Know anybody that wants some campines or OEGBs?
