Why is my BA, my only egg layer so far, chasing and pecking one of my Millie Fleur d'Uccle girls today? I only have 4 chickens, 3 girls and a boy, who have all lived together since the beginning of May, and have always gotten along with no problems. The bantams girls, who are about a week or so younger than the BA, aren't laying yet - but their combs are growing and turning redder so I think it won't be much longer before they start.

Is this a female pecking order thing that is happening now since the younger girls are maturing? Is my BA jealous of "her man" who is now showing affection towards the other girls? [IMG]

Sounds like she intends to be top hen. When they say pecking order they mean it.

She's the oldest and the biggest. I guess that gives her the right to be top hen. [IMG]
