Hello chicken friends, couple quick questions when you have a minute.
- my 5 hens are 14 months. 2 of the 5 seem to have unhealthy looking butts. I am not sure if i should be treating them with something. I did give them each a warm water washing, but this is it.
One gal is close to having broken skin, but its red and the fluff is not all healthy looking like the others. The other hen looks like it has a bare butt, but its clean skin.(pictured). I have a couple pics of the one hen thats not too bad. It was after washing.
They do free range
They have access to clean water multiple times a day
I offer them some sort of veggie everyday. Yesterday we had tomato.
16% layer pellets
Free choice egg shells & manna oyster shells
I guess my main question is what should i be doing now? Should i continue to bathe the 2 hens daily until it clears up?
Also, is deworming chickens a common thing? Wondering if i should administer something?
Anything for prevention of worms, or, cocci____(spelling)? I really want to nip this b4 an issue. I have the time and energy, just no direction! Thank you. I've attached a couple pics of one of the hens. Thank you so much.

And also, see the feathers? Why does it look like they are falling out? Is this a molt?????? I have never witnessed any sign of molting and they are 14 month. It made me nervous to see the 'root' of the feather..(that white root looking part) sticking out. Also, i have read about trimming feathers, but i am so nervous! I assume it will hurt them if i cut that white root part. The other hen (not pictured), laid down in a very random place and again this morning, when i let them out, she was normal, but just stopped and randomly laid down. Everything otherwise behavior wise seems normal. Chickens are much more lazy when its hot out! They spend most days laying lazily in front of fan until after 5pm when temps drop. One big change i made was switching them from chic starter 18% protein, to an all layer 16% protein. I made this change this past April. Ugh, wish i knew what to do to move forward. Been giving the flock the save a chic electrolytes mixed in with feed the last couple days. Stools seemed normal except, this past week sometime while scoping, i notice a tiny bit of blood in stool. It did not alarm me as i figured thats normal sometimes. Any guidance here would be so appreciated. 🐓❤️
