Whats going on with this pullet

Can you break it down how this is possible when pullets are only capable of inheriting either gold or silver but not both. I'm trying to understand.

Apparently silver does not always present as actual clean white.
Various other genes modify how it is expressed.
So yours is probably silver, but with some of the wrong modifiers, so it doesn't look right.

As an extreme example, I'm told that Salmon Faverolles are genetically silver, and they certainly show quite a bit of brown!

Yes, Salmon Faverolles are genetically Silver Wheaten with the addition of the mahogany gene. That's a good example!
