whats gotten into my rooster? he keeps attacking my leg

"Talk"to your chickens (make a unique sound) so they know who you are, and can identify you. All of my animals know my sounds that i make to them. I can have the entire yard piled up against my legs just by making a tic and a cluck! Someday I'll get someone to record it on video, it's crazy to see.

The other thing you need to do is put yourself in their pecking order, at the top. I stomp my feet hard on the ground and "chase" the offending rooster for 5-10 minutes around the yard. Don't run, just walk, always keeping eye contact, always facing them and moving towards them.

I would get rid of him. I had my beautiful roo turn on me. The last time he did it he attacked me 3 times in a row, I was so mad. I grabbed a stick and when he tried for the fourth time, in a fit of anger I knocked him right in the head and ended him. I never thought I would be able to kill him before that (I threatened a lot after each previous attack), but now I know I'll never keep a mean roo around again.
My Roo was so beautiful too. His name was Alejandro. I wished so bad that he would have been a good roo, I loved him so much. He was only 8 or 9 months old when I ended his life. It honestly makes me sad thinking about him. I don't have any roo right now, but I'm wanting 2 or 3 really bad. (I have the space, the hens, and I live in the country far from neighbors.)

That's so cool you should really get someone to record that!

That's a really good idea I will for sure then try picking him up more and do that.

Thanks. He was so photogenic. I tried so hard to make him friendly. Picking him up a lot, petting him, talking to him. He was just aggressive. I couldn't imagine if he had spurs. The 2nd time he attacked me I was wearing shorts and he scratched my legs up with just his toe nails. I'll never tolerate a mean roo again. 3 strikes and you're OUT!!!

Baby knows my voice. Last night I was late putting him to bed in the solarium. I just call out, "Baby! Where are you?!" And he always makes this very loud bawk sound, so I'll know exactly where he is and be able to find him easily. He was starting to get a little worried because he knew it was a bit past his bedtime. He was right on the sidewalk, near the solarium, waiting for me.

I'm looking forward to holding him more often, like I did when he was a little chick. First thing each morning he lets me stroke his neck. He loves to be rubbed right under his chin. He stands there so silently while I pet him, as if he's in ecstatic bliss. He also loves to have his eyebrows and earmuffs rubbed gently. And he likes it when I massage his crop and rub his belly. He's a very sensual rooster and loves to be touched. I was his surrogate mother, after all. :>)

yeah I understand! it can be hard sometimes I have never had this happen before. I wear shorts all the time but I get scrached up on the arms a lot from my chickens and picking them up and what not /:

Today I went out the to chickens and he tried to attack me but I won that I then did what everyone has said and carried him around I also let him know that i was the boss by walking/stomping he didn't try to attack me after that of course I know it will take more days than just one to handle this. I am going to go out there later and see how it goes.
