ok, so I'm gonna try to explain this the best way I know how. My silkie roo comes on my back patio and goes in the corner and he squats down and starts moving his feet and butt back and forth and makes some kind of shuttering noise. It reminds me alot of a way a female cat acts when she's in heat. If he only did it when the girls were around, I would think it was some sort of mating dance, but he does it even when they're no where around him. I'm relatively new to chickens and this is my first time having a roo around for any period of time so I'm not to sure what he's doing.

LOL, it sounds like he is trying to communicate with you! I would guess this is aggressive behavior. Does he peck the ground and side step toward you when you come around?
Are you sure it is a rooster and not a pullet getting ready to lay?
I have an aggressive little silkie roo that is just soooo funny! So obviously pecks at nothing and side-steps toward me. Gets right in there with the big boys and crows louder than all of them! He has not flown at me yet tho.

The expression "cock-eyed" refers to a rooster who fakes pecking the ground but is really watching YOU! He will side step toward you or sneak up from behind and attack if he is so inclined.

He has claimed you as his hen and is showing you where to lay your eggs. I have a Buff Roo that does the same thing and when I come over, he grabs my pants and tries to mate.

my young roo did a similar thing. they were used to me pciking them up to be taken outside to run around under my quidance. it got so hen i offered my hand out to him, he would climb aboard and do some sort of half squat and move his feet some what like he was scratching. It was hilarious, but he out grew it when he meet the mature hens.

OH MY!!! I don't think he even likes me!!!! When I let them out of their coop in the morning, he waits until I turn my back and then he charges me. When I turn around, he charges at me again and acts like he's trying to fight me. Are you sure?

OOOH!!! He's a fiesty one!!!

he has 2 silkie girls, so I don't think that's so much of an issue. I think he just really really doesn't like me. After cleaning their coop today, I picked him up and carried him around for about 10 or 15 min and petted him. He was not happy with me. Sooooooo, after a little while I went to go get one of the silkie girls eggs.......as I was bending over, he attacked my backside!! Oh what to do, what to do????????
