so have an Isa brown who is about 4-5 months old outside in the coop with two grown wyandotte hens and a Cochin frizzle who's a week older than my Isa brown. I noticed a large swollen thing on the back/bottom of her foot. It was huge and kind of see through. I went to check on her this morning and it popped over night. There was some thick liquid on her foot so I rinsed it off put some aquaphor on it (it's like patrollium jelly but stronger and safe) then rapped it in bandages loosesly to keep dirt and germs out. She has shown no sights of pain so far and know one else in the coop had this. I use pine shavings as bedding which I change every other week. Any ideas?

Sounds like bumble foot. Careful, it can spread to the other chickens and possibly you. Post a picture of it, that will help to figure out what it is.

Hmmmm... In my (limited) experience bumblefoot has more of a hard kernel inside. Not so much liquidy fluid type pus... but like I said, very limited experience! Definitely sounds like an infection. I'll tag a couple of people that are more experienced! Hopefully they can help more. @casportpony @Ravynscroft. Their expertise on another thread was instrumental in helping me with bumblefoot on my duck!

I'm sorry I don't have a pic when I went out the next day when it was brighter it had gone away she hasn't shown any signs of pain. She is still my happiest hen and it looked nothing like bumble foot but it is 90% back to normal now. Let me check it again this morning. Thanks for all of you help!
