What's on this chickens foot?

I'll attach a picture. I think one has bumblefoot but she isnt acting different or walking funny but I did notice it looks swollen and black in the center on the bottom of her foot. Then I have 2 with these bumps on their feet, sorta between the toes. One has them between all toes and this one is just the one. Is it scaly leg mites? Their scales dont look different though. If it is, how do I treat birds and do I need to treat their coop? If so with what? I have 10 birds sharing a large converted shed and they free range out half acre yard all day long.

Sorry picture might be hard to see. It's on the right. I wasnt going to go out there it's a wet mess. Lots of rain lately. (Hurricane season)

If it matters the birds are Easter Eggers.

Caught my other girl to really take a peek and she has what looks to be bumblefoot on both feet! Are the bumps on top a result of that? What would cause that?

Yep, bumble foot. Which is a staph infected wound...wound could be caused by many things...staph occurs naturally but could be worse in always wet environments.

Have had several birds with this, never was bad enough to treat and eventually cleared up on its own. There are many other ways to deal with it, up to you how far you go.

It's our rainy season right now with a tropical storm coming this weekend and a watch on a hurricane for later this month. Ugh. Its staying wet outside.

She isnt limping or anything so I guess all I can do (since I'm not digging around in her foot) is to just keep their coop dry?

I'd keep a close eye on it. I just treated one that had one on a knuckle and on the other foot on the bottom. Got so bad her leg was swelling and she was lethargic and breathing heavily. We performed the surgery and now she is all good.
Dont just assume it will go away.
Its normally caused be getting a splinter and/or jumping down from high roosts also.

Only if they land on something sharp enough to cut the foot.


Definitely keep an eye on it...watch for extreme redness, just like you would a human wound. A bumble foot infection can go systemic(body wide infection) depends on the birds immune system.

So we broke down and I had my husband help with removing it. it was disgusting! We finally did it because when she was just standing around she held her foot up so it wasnt getting better. I think she needs antibiotics though. We have been keeping it as clean as we can by putting antibiotic ointment in there and wrapping it with coban. We keep a little pad of gauze slathered in antibiotic ointment over just the open part before wrapping it. The coban works better than just a gauze wrap.

What kind of antibiotic can I get for them? And I'd really prefer to go to a feed store or tractor supply instead of a vet.

We caught another bird with one starting on her foot so we went ahead and pulled that out too and shes totally fine now. This other girl just had it bad apparently. I feel awful.

Oral OTC antibiotics are not available at feed/farm stores anymore....
....there might be an injectable tho.
@casportpony would know.

I think I can order some from tractor supply. They are only injectable though and I am not comfortable with that. Either me giving them an Injection nor the dosing.
