What's on your spring wishlist?

Yeah! Good luck with that.........

I can hold out til next fall . . . I have to see how the new breeds I got this year (speckled sussex, partridge rock and the hatching dleawares) do during our summer heat. Many of my current flock had a real hard time this year in our record heat. . .

Chicken coop. Actually went and picked through a trailer a guy tore apart and came home with over 80 2 x 4's and I can't remember how many 2 x 6's DH said we had, plus a shower/tub enclosure that is like brand new and the roof things that holds the roof up . . .can't think what they are called, it IS early, guys. So, we won't need a whole lot more for the framing anyway.

Chickens.

Goat huts

Goats.

Water line and electric line run to it all.

I think so and I have already asked Dh to keep me away from the person bringing brown leghorns

I just can not do anymore chicks with the 36 eggs in the cooler due to hatch next week !

My list for Spring includes the following:

2 Easter Eggers
2 SLW
2 Buff Orp.
2 Speckled Sussex
2 Barred Rock
1 Deleware
1 Gold Sex Link

This will be our first chickens ever

and we are so excited, we have just finished an awesome 10x12 coop with and 9x20 completed enclosed run which I will be adding to my BYC page hopefully soon, we cannot wait for the first week of December to place our order with Meyers, they have so great in answering all my questions.

This is my first year with them, too. I have 5 pullets from Welp (a 'test' batch) and have been very happy with them. They aren't perfect, but they aren't as far from standard as most hatchery birds I've seen. I'm ordering as many Orloffs as I can so that I can cull heavily and build my flock through selective breeding on that foundation. I thought about adding some Ideal chicks, too, but those seem to be the least upright of all the hatchery stock I've seen pictures of.

I haven't been able to locate many breeders. I heard Duance Urch used to have them...and I know of someone in Texas that has birds I am sure are fantastic, it's just a matter of getting my hands on 'em!

Do you want to know?

Oh well, as long as I build another coop to keep the banties separate I'm fine.

Its nice to know that I'm not the only one who is thinking Spring chicks!!

I'll be looking for a SQ pair or Trio of Bantam Splash Cochins. That's all I need. I'm starting my search now, as they are hard to find. Please chime in if you have some or know someone who does.
