What's on your wish list for spring 2012?

Uhhhh...

I would really like some Bantam Polish and would like to be NPIP tested to be able to ship birds and eggs to states I'm not able to.

Putting up the incubator unless I REALLY need it for something..
I want to be brooder-free for ONE year..
Cull the older chickens from the flock..
Try to cut down the feed bill..

i dont want ones with hairy feet because people always say they get foot infections

I want to revamp an old shed to make a nice, spacious chicken coop.

Then I can use the one I have now for broodies, or a pair of bantams.

I also want to focus on growing A LOT MORE. I moved right in the midst of prime planting time this year and just didn't get as much garden in as I wanted. I want to add four raised beds and till a large area along the East facing wall of the house for herbs and grasses. I'd like to be able to grow more bedding for the animals, and have been researching a good seasonal rotation that should keep me in bedding for much of the year.

Has anyone else done this? I am thinking a mix of things - lavender, comfrey, wheats/flax etc.

Great thread. I have wondered what we all daydream about during these chilly months.

I want a Welsummer pullet and LOTS and LOTS more bantams. I am in love with all of the little seramas I see here on BYC and would love to raise them. Maybe I can convince my family? but a billion dollars would be nice too...

I have 2 white Cochins that are just so sweet and gentle. Not a bad bone in there body. I have not had any problems with their feet. they are in the coop with my RSL and go outside in the yard everyday. Go for it!!!

I would love a second coop so I could get some ducklings again. I would luv to actually keep my tax return to dig a pond with.
I want a few turkeys
Pair of silkies,
a frizzle
a naked neck
more EE's
A Turken
pair of Sebrights

Oh hell, I want them all. I just dont have a coop big enough to hold them all. I have plenty of pen, plenty of property, Just a DH who is a little negative on a a second coop!!!!!!

They'd be feathery, not hairy. LOL

I've never had an issue with any foot infections on my cochins....I think that's a matter of good husbandry (prevention).

Mine was negative on the expansion of my original coop...and then on the building of my second coop. But they get over it.

)

Get a breeding pair of white mandarins.

Get a pair of sebastopol geese

Get a pair of turkey ( I was actually thinking of getting a blue slate and a royal palm)

Building a large aviary so that I can get some egyptian geese.

Maybe start on quail and/or pigeons.

Having so many eggs from my layer flock that I will need to buy a fridge to put in the garage to store them until I sell them.
