I found this in an egg I cracked this morning, that is from one of my new layers. Any idea what it might be? She's an Olive egger that has only laid about 8 eggs so far. Thanks :)

It is not at all uncommon to find some odd bits here and there inside eggs.
Is it soft or hard? If soft it is likely a piece of tissue that has come away and gotten mixed in with the egg as it formed (sometimes called "meat spot"). Was it in the white or on/with the yolk?

Thanks for replying! It was in the white. Kind of squishy feeling. I would assume some type of worm. Correct me if I'm wrong, meat spots are typically red? Or do they come in different shapes/colors?

They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors and textures because they can be formed and end up in the egg in a variety of ways - ie tissue coming away at ovulation with the yolk, old clots from a previous rupture somewhere along the tract that gets swept out, various tissues form all along the tract, etc. Parasites in the reproductive tract would be highly unlikely.
