What kind of noise was it? My laying pullets are nearly 9 weeks, and they're making new noises and acting more "chickeny" all the time....one noise is kind of a long squeaky "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr." DH and I were in tears laughing when I imitated the noise and ALL 12 chicks ran into the coop and stood together in a frozen wad like "WHAT the HECK was THAT???"...I must've gotten it wrong!

I've pretty much learned to tell their different sounds apart. There's one for mad, one for playing, one for I caught this bug and I'm keeping it! and the screaming sound they make when one of them flies out of their enclosure and realizes that they really didn't mean to do that and they want back in, NOW! My SO has a certain type of whistle he makes to get all the chicks to look at him at once and it never fails. He says this is important in case you hear one sneeze and want to check their beaks for drainage, but I can't whistle. [IMG] Luckily, he's only had to do it for fun, since all the chicks are super healthy. [IMG]
