Puppy pads for first few days to prevent confusion as to what they should eat, then wood shavings. I've recently discovered aspen shavings and if you can find them, they're very nice in terms of lacking harmful scents and they're very soft

Ok thanks I used pine last time but they were already a week old and had most of their wing feathers so they were already stable. The puppy pads are a good idea

I use Tractor Supply white bag pine shavings, from day one. I don't have any problems using them.

Mounded up deep litter with a sprinkle of aspen shavings at the start so they can snuggle into it while sleeping. Unbeatable drainage and zero clean up.
