whats the best feed for chickens ???

Hi Iam new to BYC and was woundering if some of you guys wouldnt mind helping me find out what the best feed is tibfeed my chickens ? As of right now I have 4 hens and 1 rooster.They are Black Cooper Marans

The best feed depends on what age your birds are, size, breed, and so on. Ask 100 people and probably get many different answers. Some prefer pellets some crumbles and some just scratch grains. There are many brands out there. We feed purina layena.

I have them on scratch grain right now they are still young I think there in there teenage yrs ??? I made the mistake of not asking what age they were..... My Roosters comb is turning bright red my girls are still black to lite pink a couple of them have started to get in the nesting boxes at night ???? Im not sure if that means anything or not.Thank you I have to go to the tractor store today so i will try and do somemore homework why Iam there.Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me
