Whats the best hatchery for Salmon Favorelles?

What part of IA? I live in southwestern MN and I usually know a few people that head down to the big Waverly swap every spring too. I have a small flock of the bantam faverolles started. They are from Leisha's line.... I showed some of them last fall and they took best of breed at the BCPPA and the MN State Poultry shows (out of maybe 15 or so exhibited at each one). Right now I'm dealing with alot of frozen eggs and low fertility due to the weather. I've been hatching a few here and there, but my brooders are set up for silkies only and not breeds that fly. Thus all the babies out of those fav's are for sale til much later in the spring when I can brood chicks out in the barn. I don't hatch huge numbers, but my flock is NPIP and I have a hatchery permit from MN. Here's a link to some current pics of them: http://s35.photobucket.com/albums/d196/destiny_56085/Faverolles/ Not sure if you would be interested in driving up here or possibly meeting at the Waverly swap. I could definitely let you know when I get some available though.

IMO, NONE of the hatchery, including Sandhill Preservation has the "best" in Faverolles. Particuarly Sandhill, which I've ordered 25 of their Faverolles in Salmon and Mahogany with a few 'chick warmers" in there. Flat out disappointed, they were weak and hard to care for and all of them died before they reached a year old or before they started laying, majority of them died off.

Better yet, get some from the breeders, they have your best interests in mind!

You say your disappointed with your hatchery stock birds and want better stock to hatch and possibly sell. So why would you want to go back to the same very disappointing product, knowing full well especialy after all the post that suggest against it. All it takes is the simple click of the mouse and you can have great birds from good breeders, verses the same click of the mouse to order utterly terrible examples of chickens from a chicken mill. I don't get it.

If I could find a breeder of full size favorelles that will either ship me chicks or be at either a waverly or Maquoketa swap that is what I would do. I scoured those places last year and only found one Favorelle hen, I bought her, she wasn't the best looking but wasn't terrible looking either. I just don't want to spend a ton of money on eggs again and only get one or two or none to hatch, its not the eggs its my incubator and until I can afford a better one I am not throwing money away on eggs that don't hatch. I will try the favorelle thread, and if that fails I will check out Myer and Cackle.
Thanks for the help
Melissa
