What's the best way to get rid of moles?

The most effective trap I have ever used is Nash chocker loop.

Get rid of the grub worms. That is the main food of a mole. As long as you have the grubs, the moles will keep coming back. It is easier said than done. The "stuff" that works best is poisonous to other animals, too. I'm sure their is something natural and organic, but I don't don't know about it. Good luck.

When we first moved to the country we had moles really bad, then our dog (mixed lab/springer/?) went mole crazy! I would find a mole in the kennel at least once a week... Then we didn't have moles for a long time. He died and moles came back. Got a German Shepherd and she did pretty good with mole control, then she got hit by car

. We have one of her pups (a GSD & Golden Retreiver mix) and she could care less about them. We added a border collie/Aussie mix to our family last Sept and she is a MOUSER! She's caught mice and shrews, so I'm hoping she will do well with the moles too!!

I agree that getting rid of the grubs is key! There is some kind of beneficial nematode that can be scattered around the yard as an organic way to kill the grubs. The nematodes are living, microscopic critters that kill grubs.

I have a black Lab and a hound mix, and they are death on moles. The bad news is that the big backyard resembles a lunar landscape now. Craters everywhere.

Both dogs like to TRY and bring them in, too. Bleh.

Edit because my keyboard can't spell.

For all those stating your cats catch moles, are you sure those aren't voles? They look very similar, but moles will have huge front feet whereas the voles do not. Voles can be easily caught in open fields, the moles rarely leave their tunnels. Cats aren't really known for digging. Our cats have caught tons of voles, never seen them catch an actual mole.

We've tried running water down their tunnels. Was only able to flush out one, but it was huge.

Only for about 6 months until they were all killed out. Then I just filled in the holes, and the dogs quit digging...so it wasn't really a huge issue.

Here is a homemade concoction that I have used on my property with good results.....

I agree - eradicate the grubs and you will have the problem taken care of for the most part - - my problem is the dog digs
where there has been a mole/vole hill! Grrrrrrrrr~ ~ ~ altho my Aussie is a great hunter of mice and moles - my BC is the digger....

Before using the castor oil mixture I used to put used kitty litter clumps down the hole and that worked great too!

Urine, human urine. Gophers and moles will not come near it. Have to apply periodically, 3-4 times a year depending on your rain. Was shown as the active ingredient of a homemade concoction some years ago on PBS. It works and it works well. I use it not only at my gardens but along the edges of my "nice" yard (no chickens allowed) and the burrowers won't cross the barrier into the yard. No, it doesn't smell. Apply it with a hose end sprayer and water in. Or pour into a garden area as "concentrate" and it will water in later with rain or a sprinkler. It works and it's free.
