What's the deal when you get a very small egg?

We purchased several chicks from Murray McMurray last March 2014. They've grown and started laying eggs like they were suppose to. They're all healthy and seem to be happy chickens. Yesterday afternoon my husband went out to gather the eggs and brought an egg in that was so small I thought it was a bird egg. It Looked like a chicken egg. It was brown with the exception that it was so small. Honestly, it wasn't much bigger than a robin egg. We have 3 breeds of chickens. Dominique, Black Jersey giants and Buff Orpingtons. The eggs that've been laying are between large and extra large. Now where in the world did this teeny tiny egg come from? We've had chickens off and on for many years and have never had an egg this small. Someone told me that the chicken that laid it was going to stop laying for a while. Of course you hear kinds of tales. Anyway...does anyone know or have any thoughts about this?

My Ex called them starter eggs! When you see one of them then you know your chickens are getting ready to start laying!! Have fun!
