Can someone PLEASE explain the difference in all the Orpingtons? I see Orpingtons, Bantam Orps, and Cuckoo Orps.

Is it their color? Their size? The amount of eggs they lay?

Thanks

Wasn't sure where to post this so please forgive me if I've done it wrong.

Their is a plethora of colors, known as varieties, in the Orpington breed. Most breeds also come in two sizes, standard and the minature bantam.

I don't even know all the varieties of Orpington as it's an extremely popular breed. To list a few there is buff, black, Blue (which results in blue, black and splash), lemon cuckoo, crele, white, red...must be more...

Some of these varieties will not produce as many eggs as say the buff or black as the breeds used on the out cross to originally make the color would have been poorer layers. Cochin is one of those poorer layers often used.
