What is the difference between a "mutt" and a "cross" in the chicken world?

In truth, no difference at all.. To the typical person, a cross would be used for something planned, like if I crossed my Shamo's with a American game.. That would be a cross, while a bird of unknown parentage, or something unplanned would be more likely called a mutt.

cool...so, do people go to "chicken sales" to buy chickens? We went once. Brought home a mama with 4 pullets and two small bantams. One of which looks like a Barred rock(but not sure). I am going to post some pics this weekend to try and get some opinions.
