whats the difference?

    whats the difference between straw and hay?i thought they were the same thing. [​IMG]

    Hay is soft and has nutritional value and straw is thick, corse and has no nutritional value - Straw is better used for bedding.

    Straw is what's left after you harvest the grain. Hay is the whole plant, cut, dried and baled.

    i tried to put straw in my nest boxes.. i caught my chickens eating it..so i had to switch to pine shavings..Dang!..i wanted to use straw in the boxes..good luck, Wendy

    I use straw in my nest boxes. They peck at it a little, but not too much.

    I use straw in my nesting boxes as well. The eat a little of it but stopped after a while.
