I have 4, three week old sex links. (Note: there second generation, so color doesnt matter. )
They hatched from 2 broodies, All of them are from a male SL and Female SL's.

1.) its Yellow, has the biggest, darkening comb out of all the chicks, and body is feathering out

2.) this one is red (kind of hard to see color with the lighting) has wing feathers but no body feathered yet, smaller body

3.) this one is yellow, and also is feathering out, but not as big of a comb as #1

Yellow or white is usually a Roo.

The females are generally hatched with rusty browns and will feather out with red/brown with lots of white. By week 5, the difference is quite clear. You'll know which is which. Some roosters are runts, but their white yellow gives them away. They won't get brown saddles until they are completely feathered out at 8 weeks. The roosters at 8 weeks have noticeably bigger legs.

2nd generation sex links are never the same as the parents and the sex linking doesn't breed true. In order to have sex links you need to have the original crosses. (Example: rhode island red male over white leghorn females) Sex links themselves NEVER breed true or otherwise stated, sexlinks never beget sexlinks, their offspring are red and white and white with red, but both males and females have varying amounts of each, not like the original cross where the males hatch white with a little red and the females are red with minimal white.

Edited because I had the order wrong. Male should be the red and the female the silver to give you traditional red sex links. Thanks Rareroo.

Hard to tell from the pics but you wouldnt call them Sexlinks since they are second generation from Sexlinks becuase they arent sexlinks. At this point if your hens were the ones that are red with white tails, then you will hatch both sexes of chicks that are black tailed red ( like RIRs), White tailed Red ( like Sexlink hens), Silver Columbian like Light Sussex, and Solid White, but again this would all be in both sexes the color wouldnt have anything to do with the sexes.

Just FYI That cross doesnt produce sexlinks. If the RIR hens were a slow feathering strain it might produce feather sexed chicks, but not color sexed.
