Whats the longest an EE takes to start laying?

My EE is now 6 months old and is not laying yet. Her comb is not fully developed and she has no red on her face yet so I guess I will have wait a little longer? Does anyone know if an EE has taken longer than 7 months to lay?

For most dual-purpose breeds it takes 6 to 6.5 months. However, with Easter Eggers, it probably takes longer, depends on the amount of cross breeding used to produce them. I'd keep your hopes up, but it may take a little longer, especially since the comb isn't developed yet.

I am in the same situation and waiting for mine to lay. But so far it is as was mentioned above, their comb and wattles are non existent and pale.....I am so anxious though! Breeder said she thought another month they might start. So counting down the weeks....at 15 wks now so I fear we have plenty more time before they do sadly.....

EE's are slow. The earliest i have had EE's start laying is around 25 weeks. First their face and comb turn red 2-3 weeks later they start squatting. The laying usually starts a week or two after that.

I have 4 20 week old and 2 19 week old EE's we got our 1st egg yesterday just not sure which one it's from all but one is pretty red and a few are squatting. We also have a couple of other breeds the same age so it may have been from them too.

My purchased ones started laying right at the six month mark, almost to the day. A daughter I kept from one started laying at 5.5 months, right in the coldest shortest days of winter. I thought she might wait until spring. I'd like to hatch some of her eggs and I also have a young rooster from my early laying lines. He's a 3/4 brother to the earlier laying hen. I'd like to breed him to some of the girls and see at what age their daughters start to lay.
So many ideas to try.
