Whats the name of your chick or roo? this will be fun

HAHAHA Thanks...Usually our girls get to name EVERY animal on the farm. That also helps me out because then I have to get at least 2 of each thing so there is NO FIGHTING and hubby has yet to say anything about it..heeheh

I did have to help a little bit with some of the names as they were getting a little over whelmed with the chickens. (ALL the other names for ALL the other animals the girls picked out though). We ended up naming them more on how they acted/what seemed to fit..Then there were a few that the girls couldn't come up with names for so I picked some and then they drew the names out of a hat and picked a bird to go with that name...

besides our birds they have named our sheep, goats, pigs, pot belly pigs, turtles, cats, dogs, calf, and rabbits.

Glad I could make you laugh at some of the names..

I did not read through the whole post. Mine is called stewart and basil. Stewart is our first roo and we weren't sure we wanted to keep him so we used to call him stew for the stewpot if he ever got mean or acted up. He is a rir and as docile as they come.

I was originally not going to name any of my roos, but, knowing my DF and children, they could be named some weird names.
Even though I don't have chickens yet, my choice of names for roos will be:
Black Crested White Polish- Punk Rocker
White Modern Game bantam-Hailstone

I'll probably have about 2 other breeds yet to be decided on.

I won't name my hens, as they'll be for utility purposes only.
My hens will be Orpingtons, Plymouth Rocks, Speckled Sussex,..ect.,
and a few bantams thrown in.
I'm still deciding on breeds, so, I'll be back with more names.

We have a name for 1 of our 12 RIR's

Her name is (unless she turns out to be a he)

Her name will be Sweetie because everytime I put my hand in the brooder she? comes flying over and she? loves to be rubbed and held. It is so sweet. I pray she will stay that way.

Hello,

Okay here goes... Our New Hampshire Reds are named Blue Duck and Henny Penny (Of course) and our Barred Rock's are named Margaret Myrtle (After my Aunt) and Goat!

Not sure where my husband came up with Blue Duck and for our Daughter naming a chicken Goat.....All I can say is we once had a cat named Dog!!!!

Cheers to all,
Liza

I don't name the hens anymore- over the years I ran out of names. The rooster, a blue splash/red pile sort of color with a whiteish beard is named Nick. Once we had 4 bronze turkeys named Halloween, Thanksgiving,Christmas, and Easter. They are no longer with us.

Roo's are Sheriff Earl and Butterscotch ( named by little girls, Scotch for short).
Hen's are Sugar, Spice, Cleopatra, Prudy, Carmela, Delilah, Lakisha, Gracie, Splash, Blondie, Goldie, Sally, Ruby, PeeWee, and Trina (I think- new hen).
Pullets are Scout, Francine, Edna, and Alberta.
Chicks are Pearl, Clementine, LuLu and Petunia.
Edited to add- one of chicks may become Blossum.
Opps- How could I forget??? My two house chickens are Miz Lacey Mae and Miz Sophia Marie.
