What's the name of your chicken coop? "Chicken" Hilton here

We call our hen house and run "Fort Knox" because we built so no predators could break in. I guess with the amount of money we spent building it the eggs are worth a small fortune!

We are currently building one that isn't finished but once one is done, hubby wants to do more. He wants to do 10 coops all together to fit 10 chickens per coop (9 hens 1 rooster in 5 of them then 10 hens in the other 5, half for breeding, half for eating eggs)

He said he is going to call them altogether "HOTEL COOPS" with each individual coop having a letter from the ABC. the first 5 are going to be called "LOVE NEST" A, B, C, D, E, F which are the breeding coops, while the other half will be "Buffett Madness" A, B, C, D, E, F. So that way when we are talking about a surtain coop, We just say "Hey, did you check the eggs in Love Nest B?" or "How is that hen in Buffett Madness B?"

You get the point. It's also good for our records to have simple names.

8 x 16, 4 windows (two are palladium style with round tops), 2 pop doors with guillotine type closers, red door, tan vinyl siding, slate colored roof with turbine vent, white trim & gutters, linoleum floor (beneath 6" litter), two 48" flourescent lights, and wired for ceiling fan. 8-wire tel line pulled in with power and water line (in case the girls would like to hear some Bach some day or go online th BYC ! ) 2,000 Sq ft run with 4 perches and 3 shade trees and lots of grass. Future plans call for a chickiedoo jungle gymn.

My Mom called this cove hoot and holler. So when we built the coop a friend suggested hoot and cackle. Any night I can hear the owls and in the morning I hear the hens cackle. So hoot& cackle is it. Gloria Jean

I have 2 coops, large run with a big blue tarp, different cinder blocks placed here and there, and a big stack of wood pallets nearby for...whatever (they were free).

I call the entire area "Shanty Towne". i think the "e" at the end of town really adds something...don't you???
