what's the name of your chicken farm??????????????????????

Almosta Farm, A friend came up with it because I have chickens, a bunny and a couple of dogs. I'm also looking in to adding mini moos and probably goats (still not sure about the goats though.) So hence the All Most A Farm.

Ours is Chowdown Farm. Last year I was looking for a name and most of our flock where meant for consumption. Either meat or the eggs. Now, we have neary all silkies. We have 1 Black Orphington roo n a pair of speckled sussex oegb's. I have no idea how many silkies we have so please don't ask. I'll have to do a head count.

"Lazy Acres Chicken Retirement Home"

Although I have yet to own "acres" my husband came up with this one when we first started to seriuosly get into chickens back when we lived in Cali. I went to our local animal shelter to look around. They had a lot of hens so, later, I took my hubby back and we selected some hens. We got a variety in many shapes and colors and most were decent layers for about six months. Then their first molt came and most of them decied to stop laying....and never restart! I eventually ended up with about 50ish hens from young to ancient and as the years went by, most some how managed to survive into non laying age with out becomming egg bound. I swear there must have been something in the water! lol .. So here I was feeding a bunch of lazy worthless chickens who specialiazed in bug eating and worthless chicken tricks. Hubby was watching the girls one day and said" we need a sign for our property." I said "Oh Yeah? What is that sign gonna say?" his reply: "Why Lazy Acres Chicken Retirement Home of course since is sure seems once new girls get to our place all the older girls tell them that they never need to lay another egg again".
So we got a big wooden sign made at the fair that year. So, now I have my sign hanging up and the Retirement Home is open for biz. I currently have three bantam hens and two lay an egg almost every day and the old hen is just an old hen. Worthless as can be but one heck of a bug slayer and dust bather.
