I've wanted Ameraucanas for a long time, but wonder if they're to large for my flock? Would an Ameraucana roo be to big for OEGBs and Pyncheons?
Even though I don't really like beards, I want a fluffy bird that lays nice big blue eggs!
That would be perfect for me, but I've never been able to find any.
Several of the major hatcheries have bantam chickens that lay blue or green eggs.
They may be listed as "Americanas" or Easter Eggers or various other names.
They typically look like wanna-be Ameraucanas in non-standard colors, some with beards and some without.
Meyer hatchery even sells some sexed:

(But it's often cheaper to order three times as many straight-run bantam chicks from some other hatchery, and have a bunch of miniature fried chicken from the cockerels. Sexed bantam pullets are quite expensive from the few places that sell them.)
