One thing to keep in mind, if you want natural filtration, you need to have about the same amount of water in the filter as is in the pond if you have any hope of not having a total slime pit. I ALMOST got to that ratio last summer and my water was not too disgusting for most of the time.
Of course, my pond is only 500 gallons and I only had 6 ducks at the time. You are operating on a MUCH larger scale.
