i have a chicken book and read that one breed can reach 3 feet tall (cant find the book so cant tell you the name of the breed) but i was woundering if this is true, if so what are their temparments like towards other foul and humans. i'm only 4'11", yes i know i'm short, but i would love to see some pics of these if they exist and if possable against something or someone for comaparison.

*i'm only into bantams but my mom was talking about getting some of these tall chickens if they exist and it sounds interresting might not be something i'm interrested in getting but i would like to learn more about them.

The Malay is the tallest breed of chicken and can reach up to 90cm tall.

A handful of Oriental game breeds get very tall. Shamos, Malays, Thais, and Saipans are the tallest. Saipans are said to reach over three feet tall for mature males, but since Saipans are a controversial bird amongst gamefowl breeders (some people think they are a breed, others don't), it is not known for certain.

Love that pic with the Malay cock!

However, I think that's a different breed other than the Malay, 'cause a Malay would have a cushion (aka Walnut) comb, but that bird looks like it has a pea-comb. It may be a Thai or a Shamo.

That picture is misleading. It is a very small man, or late teenager with a very large chicken, still not 3 feet tall though. Not a Malay.

Honestly the tallest chicken I've seen has been a Langshan, although some Shamo are really close, or equal to that height.

Most of the giant breeds are fairly calm with people, see also dogs and horses.
